Hi my name is luca rouset

And i am a sixteen year boy with autism

A long time ago when i was five years old i realized i was a little different. I was surrounded with people who did not understand me. They thought i had a cognitive impairment and couldnt understand anything. i was misunderstood and they thought i could notget anything done but i was learning a lot. I was just learning a lot in my head but could not show them. I did not have control of my body. I could not show them what i was capable of. Why was i born like this, i dont know but id like to belive god gave me super powers. I know i have this for a reason but i want to learn how to use them. I have to learn but it will be hard. I must learn but with nikkis help i will learn. Thank you for joining me on my journey.

A note from Luca’s mom

Luca is nonverbal, he eats puréed foods only, his fluids go through his g-tube, and he needs help with everything from getting out of bed to dressing. Like many other kids with Autism, the school district misdiagnosed him with an intellectual disability. He describes his issue as more of a movement disorder than one of a cognitive nature. He says he is trapped in a body that doesn’t listen to him. And yet. With the right support, he was able to find a way to express himself. And it turns out he’s been listening to everything all these years. That is his super power, his listening skills. He’s funny, he’s wise, and he’s sensitive.
